Adjust your Zoom audio settings for the best sound quality during a live audition.
Before You Begin
Make sure your Zoom app is fully up to date.
Steps
- During your Zoom call, select the caret (^) next to the mute button in the bottom left corner. You can also select your Zoom icon and choose Settings to get to the same place.
- Select the Audio Settings tab.
- Under Audio Profile, choose Live Performance Audio or Original Sound for Musicians, whichever performs better for your setup.
- Selecting an option in Audio Settings doesn't turn it on by itself. Close Audio Settings, then select the option where it now appears in the top left corner of your screen to enable it.
- If you're using Original Sound for Musicians, make sure Automatically Adjust Microphone Volume is unchecked, and turn on High-Fidelity Music Mode and Echo Cancellation to help prevent echo. High-fidelity mode uses more bandwidth, so turn it off or use a wired connection if your connection becomes unstable.
- When you're done performing and back to a regular conversation, turn the audio setting back off in the top left corner to avoid echo or feedback.
If Something Goes Wrong
If attendees hear echo or feedback, confirm the audio setting is turned off outside of live performance moments, and ask non-performing attendees to stay muted during the audition.
