Summary
You can split a video into separate clips using free editing software: Windows Movie Maker on Windows, or iMovie on Mac.
Windows Movie Maker
- Select Add Videos and Photos and choose your file. It appears on your timeline (Storyboard).
- Find the section you want to separate.
- Select Edit, then Video Tools, then Editing, then Split.
- Select the clip you want to export.
- Select the Project tab, then Save Movie.
- Select For Computer, enter a filename, and select Save.
iMovie
- Select File, then Import, then Movies. Choose your file and select Open.
- The file loads in the Event Window.
- In the Event Window, select the portion you want as your first clip and move it to the Project Window.
- Select Share, then Export.
- Select a video quality and export.
- Delete the clip from the Project Window before repeating for the next clip.
